What We Offer

McPherson Family Eye Care strives to meet the primary eye care needs of the Wake Forest and surrounding communities. We provide all of the following services at our office.

    • Comprehensive eye examinations
    • Emergency eye examinations (injuries, infections, etc.) We are available 24 hours a day to care for any ocular emergencies. Please call (919) 263-9163 if you are in need of after-hours care.
    • Treatment and follow-up care for conditions such as dry eye, cataracts, macular degeneration, and glaucoma.
    • Contact lens fittings. Dr. Samantha McPherson has a special interest in fitting irregular corneas (eg keratoconus or after refractive surgery) and difficult prescriptions.
    • A full service optical dispensary. Our optical team will help you find the perfect eye wear to meet your lifestyle needs and budget. With over 1500 frames to choose from, you will undoubtedly find that perfect frame or pair of sunglasses. We cut your lenses in-house, which shortens the turn-around time for your new glasses and is great for those who need their glasses in a hurry! • Pre and post-operative care for patients undergoing cataract or refractive surgery (eg LASIK).
    • Diabetic retinopathy screenings, consisting of the following:

    • A dilated fundus examination to check for any bleeding or leakage of fluid in your retinas.
    • Digital photographs of your retinas. These pictures can be sent to your PCP and will be used to monitor for any changes over time.
    • Optical coherence tomography (OCT) images. OCT has become the standard of care in picking up any early changes in the macular region (the very center) of your retinas.
    • Communication of our findings with your PCP or endocrinologist. We feel that it is very important for all of your health care providers to work together as a team in helping you manage your condition.
    • Retinal photography and OCT imaging are covered by many insurance companies. For those who do not have coverage, these procedures are optional.
  • Coordination of care with ophthalmology sub-specialists. We have excellent relationships with ophthalmologists in the area and if needed, we will get you in the hands of the correct doctor to manage your conditions.
  • Vision Therapy and Training of Visual Perceptual Skills. Please see the Vision Therapy tab for more information.
  • Low Vision examinations. Please see the Low Vision tab for more information.
