What is Dry Eye?

Dry eye is a disease that can decrease the eye’s ability to make and maintain sufficient quality and quantity of tears for a healthy protective film.

Dry eye may seem trivial to some, which is why it is often ignored and left untreated. However, chronic dry eye affects an estimated 20.7 million people in the US alone! So if you continuously experience the following, we would highly recommend scheduling a dry evaluation:

  • Gritty or sandy eyes
  • Burning
  • Redness
  • Tired eyes
  • Unable to wear contacts all day
  • Or, simply lost that sparkle they once had…

When to see your doctor

If you have any of these symptoms it’s important to find out what’s really going on.

  • Redness, Grittiness, and Irritation
  • Itchy, Burning, and Stinging eyes
  • Occasional blurring, and Watery eyes

Lumenis Intense Pulse Light (IPL)

With IPL technology, light pulses penetrate the tissue and create heat, targeting the abnormal vessels that are the root cause of the inflammation. The body’s natural reaction to the treatment removes the abnormal vessels and heals the inflammation threatening the skin and eyelid. IPL technology treats your skin and eyelid inflammation while improving overall skin appearance.

Lipiflow Thermal Pulsation

Lipiflow is the only FDA-cleared medical device shown to restore gland function for dry eyes. It applies a combination of heat and pressure to the inner eyelid to safely remove gland obstructions and stagnant gland content.
